The HVAC Trade School program from Brownson Technical School (BTS) provides the hands-on training, practical experience and industry support it takes to pursue a rewarding career in this field.

The 12,000 square foot BTS training facility allows students to learn-by-doing. As a BTS student, you’ll learn hands-on in functioning workshops.

The on-campus HVAC Trade School program is ideal for individuals who appreciate the structure of a set school schedule and want to take advantage of in-person, on-site support during the classroom portion.

For those who have strong time management skills, the BTS Online HVAC School program combined with in-shop workshops is a flexible alternative.

Becoming a Skilled HVAC/R Technician

At Brownson, learning is active. Students get practical experience in a fully equipped 12,000 sq. ft HVAC/R shop. Classes are led by working HVAC/R professionals with years of experience in the field, so you get the real skills today’s employers demand.

The Brownson HVAC/R Technician Program is broken up into 8 modules:

  1. Basic Thermodynamics, Refrigeration, and Copper Works
  2. EPA and Electrical
  3. Safety, Customer Service, and basic HVAC/R Competency Review
  4. Commercial Refrigeration
  5. Residential and light Commercial Air Conditioning and Gas Heat
  6. Controls, Heat Pumps, and Ice Machines
  7. DDC and Building Automation
  8. Building Performance

Each module is taught by a dedicated instructor who has specific industry experience in the area they teach. You’ll benefit from the experience and insight of a team of professionals, all with specialized expertise to share.

Unlike some HVAC programs where students start with whatever course is being taught when they enroll, at Brownson, students move through modules 1-8, in sequential order. The program is specifically designed to help you continuously build on your skills.

On Campus HVAC Training Schedule

Full-Time: Monday – Thursday 8:00 am to 2:30 pm – Can be completed in 40 Weeks

Part-Time (evenings): Monday – Wednesday 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm – Can be completed in 88 Weeks

By the end of this program, you’ll feel fully prepared and confident to step into a career as a certified HVAC technician.

Nationally Recognized Certification

Students of this program are certified for Section 608 (EPA). NATE (North American Technician Excellence) and HVAC Excellence testing is available.
