Diploma Program

HVAC/Refrigeration with DDC Technology includes everything contained in the Master Commercial/Domestic Refrigeration and Air Conditioning program, but also includes training in System Design as well as Direct Digital Controls (DDC) – which encompasses the computerized control systems used today to keep energy costs low and to maintain better control of HVAC equipment.
Despite being our most in-depth program, because of our focused, streamlined approach, students in the full-time classes have the ability to complete the program in 9.5 months.
Practical Hands-On Training Working in the HVAC/R field is a “hands-on” job. At Brownson Technical School, we know that the best way to learn this job is to actually get your hands on the real equipment. Our students learn by doing. Some time will be spent in the classroom due to the highly technical nature of the work, but at Brownson, students spend as much time as necessary in the hands-on part of the training.
As a student at Brownson Tech you learn directly in our working shop. Our 20,000 square foot facility isn’t always as tidy as a traditional school – but our students aren’t sitting in orderly desks, they’re up working on the real equipment they’ll see out on the job.

National Certification
Section 608 of the Federal Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, repair or dispose of appliances that contain regulated refrigerants be certified in proper refrigerant handling techniques.
Brownson Tech is an authorized Section 608 training site. Section 608 is necessary to work in the HVAC industry in all 50 States as well as all US protectorates and military bases outside of the US. We prepare all our students for 608 testing and provide on-site testing as part of the program.
While not currently required by law, we are also an authorized testing site for NATE (North America Technician Excellence). NATE training and testing is available to all students and alumni.
Having your Section 608 and NATE qualifications will show prospective employers your level of training and will demonstrate your commitment to quality and your potential as a Technician.
In some cases, you will not be allowed on a “Job Site” without your “10 Hour OSHA Card” – that is one reason this training is part of the Brownson Technical School curriculum, but mainly because safety is our greatest priority.
