Help to Make Your Community Safe & Energy Smart
Did you know that, as an HVAC-Refrigeration Technician your work helps protect the Ozone Layer? Now more than ever, people are concerned about Energy Efficiency and protecting the environment. HVAC-R Technicians help the public save energy – and money – in their homes and businesses.
On the Job: Working as an HVAC/R Professional
As an HVAC/R Technician, you’re not stuck in an office or warehouse all day. Most HVAC-Refrigeration Technicians spend most of their time working in the field taking care of homeowner’s HVAC equipment, business HVAC systems, and commercial refrigeration equipment located anywhere something has to be kept cold. In this position you’ll often get to interact with a wide variety of people throughout the day.
An important role of HVAC-Refrigeration Technicians is to save energy, which helps to protect the environment and saves customers money.
As our population grows, so does the amount of residential and commercial buildings – all of which require HVAC/R installation and maintenance. Also, as HVAC/R systems become more complex there is an increased opportunity for system malfunctions, which require the attention of a skilled service technician.
HVAC/R Technicians are often required to drive to various locations. Individuals without a valid Drivers License will most likely face extreme difficulty securing employment in this field. It’s not uncommon for experienced Technicians to receive the use of a company vehicle, which they’ll often drive home in at the end of the day. Not having to commute to work in your own vehicle can save you a lot of money on gas and insurance.
